Hi! I’m Wendy.
I’ve had migraines since I was 11 years old - almost 30 years now.
Sometimes they are chronic migraines in which I
would run out of Imitrex for the month, and my head hurt many days without
getting to take it. When they’re not chronic, they still affect my quality of
life and my plans.
I have tried Internet trends for stopping or
preventing migraines but they never seemed to work.
I finally saw a neurologist
And he suggested I try Riboflavin and Magnesium - as if I haven’t
tried anything like that before!
And he suggested I start keeping a migraine diary
And see him in six weeks if the supplements didn’t help.
However, when I looked up migraine diaries and journals online,
they seemed really basic and like they wouldn’t track enough information to really
pinpoint what was causing my migraines. They were just sort of some blank lines
with some pictures for head pain zones and sleep and mood.
Because migraines are complicated. If migraines were simple, I
would have solved this problem decades ago.
My profession happens to be in data. Storing, reporting, and
making statistics on data is what I do!
So I made my own migraine journal, by hand, from scratch.
First I used a blank graph paper journal. The grid lines helped
keep all my lists of triggers, helpers, medications, supplements, and migraine
details organized.
My migraine frequency is now the lowest it’s been for 20 years.
I'm writing this blog to share what I’ve learned through all these
years.
And I'm making my Migraine Journal available for others to use as
well!
